Meeting Minutes – May 10 RSC Meeting
Serenity Prayer
Motion to accept minutes from March meeting – accepted.
1. Regional Treasurer position : The position is available and needs to be filled asap. There is an outline of the what the commitment requires on the regional website, in the member zone.
2. Literature Website. Running well, back to normal. There are un-reconciled orders that have been delivered but not paid . These will be pursued over the next couple of weeks. Please mention to all members : if they have received literature but cannot confirm payment, please do so, to avoid the need to contact individuals with invoices directly.. There has been a temporary disconnect in the financial area, that is being resolved.
3. Patty (web editor) discussed the hardcopy meeting list, and between Patty and Lu concluded that since the website now has current and up-to-date information, the hardcopies are basically obsolete and to maintain is administratively cumbersome – the live info on the website in conjunction with the upcoming QR code card will resolve the availability
of current info.
4. Telephone hotline: there have been 12 phone calls to the Naranon Hotline during Mar27 – April 27. We did not put a motion forward, but perhaps in the near future we need to discuss viability of the Hotline as it is very expensive and our web presence has improved greatly.
5. Zoom license. We currently hold 4 licenses for zoom at an expense to the region of approx. $1000 annually (approx $250 each) Licenses are paid for out of contributions to the region. Some individaul groups maintain their own license and support cost through their 7th tradition.
6. Narateen: Attendance has been low. We are in need of volunteers to be facilitators. Training is provided and a minimum of 2 years in the program -and step work under your belt is required . You must also reside in Ontario. There will be promotion of the Narateen program at Orcna, and hopefully getting the word out will improve awareness and ultimately attendance as well.
7. Outreach: a business card with a QR code has been designed with the input of many. (Thank you all that offered suggestions). This card is going to be available for individual groups to order & print and Victoria GSR from Sudbury , has volunteered to make them available to hand out at Orcna . The card has been designed to direct any and all that are interested in Naranon to the meeting directory page on the Regional website. The website is being maintained and is always current. Replacing print outs with the QR code access is intended to eliminate the need for constant ‘re-printing’ of outdated information.
Also: an outreach committee is going to be formed in the upcoming months. Meetings will take place by zoom at a prearranged and agreed upon time. The Committee will be formed to discuss needs in our individual communities and ways to raise awareness of Naranon . Anyone interested in outreach …stay tuned
8. World Service Conference. Sue has provided all the motions and outcomes of each on a chart.
Blue highlights are motions that passed
Orange highlights are to be determined
Yellow highlights are motions denied.
Next world service agenda to be hosted in 2027 is titled Growing together / working together.
9. Regional Secretary Lisa is actively trying to get more individual group participation in the regional meetings . An Anonymous survey is going to go out to individual groups to learn why attendance is low, and see if we can find ways to incite more participation.
10. British Columbia has asked to join in to our literature ordering .Literature chair has no objection. Regional chair Sue is checking into contract with Staples, and the feasibility to extend to the west. Also investigating feasibility for french language literature.
11. We will be having a condensed Regional meeting on Sunday July 6 with a focus on the status of finances. Regional chair Sue will be actively sleuthing into unpaid literature invoices and Regional bill paid and unpaid expenses between now and then.
